Pallotto: Strong leadership brought luster back to Asbury
'Two decades ago, the city was mired in dysfunction'
Editor, the Asbury Park Sun:
As a lifelong resident of Asbury Park, I have witnessed the highs and lows of this great city. The current city council has made significant progress in bringing the luster back to Asbury Park.
I especially want to congratulate Councilwoman Sue Henderson for her work on environmental issues, particularly her leadership on the commissions governing Wesley Lake and Deal Lake. Sue’s proactive measures leading up to Superstorm Sandy greatly diminished the flood damage to our city and surrounding towns. This is just one small example of the foresight and professionalism she brings to the table as she advocates for the residents of our community. As her neighbor, I see firsthand the energy, passion and countless hours Sue devotes to improving Asbury Park.
Two decades ago when the city was mired in dysfunction, John Loffredo and Sue Henderson founded the Asbury Park Homeowners Association to address quality of life issues for our residents and ensure accountability from our city government. Determined to continue their commitment to the residents of Asbury Park, both have been instrumental in bringing transparency to the city council on which they now serve. I hope voters in Asbury Park allow them to continue the ambitious development they envision for our city.
— Joe Pallotto, Asbury Park
