It may not be Boca Raton, but the Asbury Park waterfront now has palm trees from Florida.
The trees were trucked up from the Sunshine State by waterfront redeveloper iStar Financial. The palms have been placed in the southern portion of the waterfront where iStar is offering upgraded amenities as part of its “Summer Experience” initiative to enhance the visits of beachgoers.

The trees are grown at a palm tree farm owned by iStar in Florida, which supplies the trees for the company’s projects in that state, said iStar’s Brian Cheripka in a presentation earlier this week to the city’s Environmental Shade Tree Commission.
The trees can only last one season in this climate, and they’ll be removed later in the year, Cheripka said.
IStar is the majority owner of master waterfront redeveloper Asbury Partners.
