A 23-year-old Asbury Park woman was arrested on drug charges after police spotted her fighting with a Target store employee, according to a news release from Ocean Township Police.

Police witnessed Kara Fitzpatrick of Summerfield Avenue involved in a physical altercation with a loss prevention employee outside of the Seaview Square Mall’s Target Greatland store just after 4:30 p.m. Friday. The Target employee allegedly saw Fitzpatrick shoplifting items and approached her outside of the store where she put up a fight, police said.

Fitzpatrick took over $250 worth of clothing and perfume, according to police records.

Patrolwoman Alisa Martinez saw the incident taking place and arrested Fitzpatrick. She was found to be in possession five bags of a substance suspected to be heroin, six empty heroin bags and a hypodermic syringe, according to police.

Fitzpatrick was charged with possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe. She also had an outstanding warrant out of Tinton Falls. The Honorable Timothy McGoughran set Fitzpatrick’s bail for the Ocean Township charges at $2500.00 before she was taken to Monmouth County jail.
