Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Drive By Shooter
Five men injured in Saturday Night Drive By Shooting At Atlantic & Monmouth Avenues
Five men, ranging from 25 to 31-years of age, were hospitalized following a drive-by shooting incidents Saturday night, according to a news release from Charles Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Asbury Park Police Department responded to a report of shots fired around 11:31 p.m. Saturday in the area of Atlantic and Monmouth avenues, Webster said in an email.
Upon arrival, officers found three gunshot wound victims, who were subsequently transported to an area hospital by the Asbury Park Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services. Their injuries were non-life threatening, Webster said.
Two additional gunshot wound victims arrived at the hospital in separate vehicles, he said.
The victims are identified as: a 27-year-old male who was treated and released; a 25-year-old male with non-life-threatening injury but remains hospitalized; a 29-year-old male with non-life-threatening injury but remains hospitalized; a 27-year-old male with non-life-threatening injury but remains hospitalized; and a 31-year-old male who was treated and released.
A joint investigation is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Asbury Park Police Department.
Thus far, investigators have learned the five men were with a group of people when a car pulled up and fired several shots; striking the victims before driving away from the scene, Webster said.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, he said.
