Public Participation at Transformation Meeting
Focus on west side revitalization & Lincoln Village - 7:30 p.m. Thursday
With this summer’s over $20 million Community Development Block Grant funding moving housing development forward, the city’s revitalization shifts to its west side neighborhoods.
The funding supports the Renaissance Village development of 64 residential units on the vacant lots between Memorial Drive and Atkins Avenue as well as the Asbury Park Housing Authority’s Boston Way rebuild that will feature a four building complex that brings together an array of mixed income based homes on the four acre land vacated in 2014.
And now a $500,000 Choice Neighborhoods grant from the US Department of House and Urban Development will help further affordable housing and economic development.
The City will be carrying out a Transformation Plan for Lincoln Village and the West Side neighborhood, officials said. The Housing Authority complex is comprised of 63 homes at Memorial Drive and Langford Street.
Looking to include the public’s voice in crafting a comprehensive plan, city officials will hold a 7:30 p.m. Transformation Plan Community Meeting Thursday at St. Stephen AME Zion Church on Springwood Avenue.
All are welcome to kick off the exciting process, share their insights, and see what’s coming for Asbury Park, city officials said.
The Choice Neighborhoods grant is a two process funding, with up to $2 million allocated to struggling neighborhoods. The planning grant will be step one toward the application of an implementation funding.
