Pursuit of wanted man leads to attempted murder charges
Torchia: suspect attempted to flee by car and then on foot
A car chase involving a black BMW sedan traveling along Green Grove Road near 1:55 p.m. Friday has led to attempted murder and firearm possession charges for a Manchester man, Det. Lt. Timothy R. Torchia said.
Ocean Township Police Officer Trevor Dickerson was on patrol along West Park Avenue when he observed the vehicle wanted in connection with an attempted murder case in Lakewood, Torchia said.
“As Officer Dickerson attempted to affect a motor vehicle stop of the BMW the operator of the vehicle, later identified as Todd D. Greene, refused to stop and led Officer Dickerson in a brief pursuit on West Park Ave,” Torchia said. Greene got caught up in traffic near Klein Street and subsequently abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.”
Greene, 44, of Manchester was apprehended by Officer Dickerson, with assistance from Officers Chris Brady and Phil Jackson.
He was by Ocean Township Police Department with resisting arrest and eluding police. In addition to the criminal complaints, Greene was issued numerous traffic citations for attempting to elude police.
Bail was set at $75,000.00 and before Green was remanded to the Lakewood Township Police Department for processing.
After Lakewood Police recovered two firearms in Greene’s vehicle, he was charged with attempted murder and several firearms violations, Torchia said.
