Rain Won’t Thwart AP St Patrick’s Day Parade
Post Parade Events Planned Throughout City Venues
Despite the Sunday morning rain, organizers have confirmed that the 1 pm Sixth Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Asbury Park will march on.
“Hello there,” organizers wrote in a social media post. “For all those wondering, the parade is rain or shine. But the good news is by the time our marching starts at 1 pm we will be in the clear.”
The weather.com forecast shows the rain will wane in time for the parade kick off at Fifth and Ocean avenues.
In the meantime, Big Joe Henry is hosting his radio show from the Wonder Bar.
The parade will traverse down Ocean Avenue, turning west onto Asbury Avenue before moving onto Cookman Avenue where a reviewing stand will be located in Press Plaza.
Those coming into to town should know Lake Avenue from Main Street east to Wesley Lake Drive is closed to vehicular traffic. Other closures included Bangs Avenue, from Memorial Drive to Main Street; Ocean Avenue from Seventh to Fifth avenues; the parade route; Main Street, between Lake and Summerfield avenues; and Bond Street behind Dunkin Donuts, from Main Street to Lake Avenue. No parking regulations are in effect along the parade route.
Officials also said post-parade events are being held at the Wonder Bar, Johnny Macs, Georgies, Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten, and the Asbury Ale House.
