Rainbow in Asbury Park
Resident captures the colorful arc that accented the city Thursday
Many enjoyed the snapshots shared via social media of the brief rainbow that accented Asbury Park Thursday.
Local resident Mark Smith submitted these images.
“If you think your readers would be interested, feel free to use this photo of the 180 degree rainbow that lasted only about 2-3 minutes after our brief deluge yesterday,” Smith said.
Rainbows are defined as an arch of colors formed in the sky when certain rain conditions cause a refraction and dispersion of the sun’s light.
Smith said although the featured photo was taken through his window, by the time he went to his roof to get a second shot, the rainbow was waning [at right].
