Ray Yeager captures spirit of Asbury past & present

Any image of the historic Howard Johnson’s building on the Asbury Park boardwalk, just south of Convention Hall, can stimulate memories of the city’s great past and present. Arguably one of Asbury’s most significant architectural structures, the site now functions as McLoone’s Supper Club and Asbury Grille restaurant.

Toms River resident Ray Yeager captured the twilight scene pictured above.

“This image of the Asbury boardwalk was taken at dusk in mid-April as a storm rolled in,” Yeager said. “I am lucky to see this view several nights a week on my way home from our small gallery located inside of Convention Hall. The light and the sky are different each time I walk through those doors.”

“I have always enjoyed taking pictures and started RTY Photography LLC after I retired from the corporate world,” he said. “I love Asbury Park and started photographing it about two years ago when I became part of The Gallery 13 located downtown.”
