Readying for summer

city seasonal jobs & summer day camp spots available

With summer nearing the corner, the municipality is putting out a call to those interested in seasonal employment, the summer day camp program, and crossing guard posts.

Available summer jobs include lifeguard, gate attendant, cashier, and maintenance positions, according to a post on the city’s website. Applications are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the Public Works office at 9 Main St. For more information call (732) 775-0900.

Those interested in serving as a crossing guard can pick up applications from the Asbury Park Police Department. Applications should be delivered c/o Officer Lawson. For more information call (732) 775-3274.

And, the city’s Recreation Department sponsored Summer Day Camp program is now accepting registration for children ages 5 to 12.

The camp runs from noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Bradley Primary and Thurgood Marshall schools.

Lunch is provided and the program includes bowling trips as well as those to the movies, Funtime America, the Point Pleasant Beach Aquarium and boardwalk rides, waterparks, Funplex, beach trips, Medieval Times, and Hurricane Harbor.

Proof of residency is required with the nonrefundable registration fees. Residents are charged $150, with an additional $50 fee for each additional child within the same household. The nonresidential fee is $300, with a $150 fee for each additional child within the same household. Payment plans are available with a $50 per child deposit through May 15.

Registration can be done from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 22 and from 10 a.m. to noon June 20 at the Recreation Department’s 2nd floor office at 1 Municipal Plaza through June 22.
