Recycled – Celebrates Earth Day 7 pm Saturday
art629 Exhibit Features Eight Sustainably Conscious Artists
The team behind the Asbury Underground has put together Recycled – an Earth Day celebration exhibit being held 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at art629 gallery on Cookman Avenue.
“We are very happy to share this show in an effort to further exemplify and bring awareness to the very real and ominous problem we are facing with the ongoing pollution of the planet,’ said Patrick Schiavino, owner and curator of art629 Gallery, and founder of Asbury Underground. “The artists presented here do their part, albeit in a very small way, to help in that respect, but the idea is that all of us should do our part as well, and therein lies at least part of the solution.”
The exhibit will feature eight artists who have created pieces by utilizing found objects, repurposed materials and/or trash that would otherwise land in our landfills.
“With the population of the Earth approaching 8 billion people and growing, it is up to all of us to share and participate in the common goal of zero waste, ‘Green’ building standards, and carbon neutrality,” Schiavino said. “Sustainability is everything and touches all of us.”
