Robert Legere companies close doors
Legere and partner Troy were early pioneers in downtown's resurgence
Robert Legere Design Center and Robert Legere Home on Cookman Avenue are no longer in business.
The sudden closing was announced with a notice on the doors of both locations stating “Robert Legere Companies is no longer in business and is permanently closed.”
The businesses are owned by Steve Troy and Robert Legere (above). A voice mail message left for Troy was not immediately returned.
Facebook pages for Troy and Legere, as well as for Robert Legere Design, gave no explanation for the closing.
Legere and Troy were two of the early pioneers in the resurgence of downtown Asbury Park. They first opened Robert Legere Home in 2002. A few years later, they expanded into an adjacent building and rehabilitated both structures.
In 2008 they expanded again, completing their new contemporary building and opening Robert Legere Design Studios (shown above left).
