Robert Legere Design Reopens
Back to Roots Brand Focuses On Upscale Home Furnishing and Art
Just over 6 months after unexpectedly closing the award-winning Robert Legere Design is back.
The creative duo behind the brand Steve Troy and Robert Legere [shown at right during a recent trip to Africa] will reopen Friday with a back to their roots brand.
“It’s very much focused on our interior design clientele,” Troy said. “We will offer more upscale home furnishing and a larger form of decorative art.”
Gone from the relaunch will be their past investment in smaller ticket items, project construction, remodeling, and electrical contracting work.
“We are focused on those who want to do an interior design project,” Troy said. “Those who are looking for products, advice, and work on a contract basis.”
Troy said the shift will reduce the company from a staff of 27 to 4 employees.
“We are going back to our roots,” Troy said. “We will be offering really straightforward interior design and will be a home furnishing store like we were during the first six years.”
This weekend’s soft opening will be a glimpse of what is to come, with merchandise still on its way, Troy said.
“We are very excited to be back again,” he said. “The outpouring has been astounding.”
That can be gleaned from their over 6,000 social media followers.
The new storefront has been remodeled to include a new showroom, office space and client alcove.
Legere and Troy were two of the early pioneers in the resurgence of downtown Asbury Park.
They first opened Robert Legere Home in 2002. A few years later, they expanded into an adjacent building and rehabilitated both structures.
In 2008 they expanded again, completing their new contemporary building and opening Robert Legere Design Studios.
The Design Center located at 513 Cookman Ave remains for sale.
Robert Legere Design is 521 Cookman Ave. The store will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 .m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. They will be closed Monday and Tuesday. For more information, call 732.869.9399 or visit their website and Facebook page.
