Santa’s Toy Shoppe returns Saturday, Dec 17
Charity Kings accepting items for holiday distribution
Asbury Park based nonprofit, The Charity Kings will bring back Santa’s Toy Shoppe on Dec. 17.
Currently collecting donations for boys and girls up to age 16 and their families, coordinator Sherrice Lyles [below right] said everything from toys, clothing, books and gift cards, to electronics, gift baskets for parents, artificial Christmas trees, lights, decorations, gift wrapping supplies, stocking stuffers, holiday cards, and food, will be distributed.
“Our primary goal is to help financially needy students throughout [Monmouth] County, but primarily to those residing in Asbury Park, Belmar, Long Branch, Neptune and Red Bank,” Lyles said in a written news release.
Charity Kings became a 501(c)(3) organization in September 2010. And while it serves 1200 children and families annually, last year’s inaugural Santa’s Toy Shoppe event assisted over 2,500 students and families throughout the state, Lyles said.
Charity Kings hosts events on a quarterly schedule, with its annual Wish Upon A Prom event being one of their most attended giveaways. Other events include a free Family Day, Holiday and Back to School drives, recreational activities, and one on one tutoring.
“We make it a priority to focus on our youth by offering academic support, enhancing family values by offering organized family-focused events, and promoting a positive community environment for them to thrive in,” Lyles said.
