Saturday 5 p.m. update: Parking becoming scarcer east of Main Street
Light traffic still moving easily through city west of Grand Avenue, backups on Asbury Avenue
While drivers continue to stay out of Asbury Park, those who did drive in for Bamboozle on Saturday did find parking east of Main Street — at least for the start of the festival.
However, by 5 p.m. that on-street parking was becoming much scarcer, both in the downtown business district and residential neighborhoods. Unlike on Friday night when there were few takers, private lots in the downtown were starting to see demand.
Traffic continued to move easily through the city, with the only backups on Asbury Avenue for drivers entering from the Asbury circle.
Bamboozle promoter LiveNation estimates that today will have the highest attendance at 40,000. Tonight’s headliner the Foo Fighters come on the main stage at 7:30 p.m. The music concludes at 11 p.m.
Asbury Park city manager Terry Reidy said an estimated 23,000 attended Bamboozle on Friday night.
On Sunday, LiveNation expects 30,000. Doors open tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. and the festival concludes at 11:00 p.m. with headliner Bon Jovi.
