Schlossbach launches Community Vines
Portions of Rumson Red vintage sales to benefit local charities
Local restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach is branching out once again.
Known for her charitable endeavors, often held at the five eateries under her hospitality group umbrella, Schlossbach has partnered with Seamus Wines and Shore Point Distributors to launch Community Vines.
The first vintage, Rumson Red, is a way to pay homage to each entities’ Monmouth County roots and continue her philanthropic mission, with a portion of the sales going toward supporting local and global projects that facilitate access to healthy food, professional development and youth empowerment programs.
“This has been a long-time dream come to fruition thanks to Shore Point Distributors and Séamus Wines,” Schlossbach [at right] said in a written statement. “We are excited for our guests to experience Rumson Red’s unique flavor profile and look forward to producing more community-inspired wines that will support our local and global communities.”
A portion of Rumson Reds’ sales sold at Schlossbach’s Langosta Lounge, Pop’s Garage Asbury Park, Asbury Park Yacht Club and What’s Your Beef, will be donated to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and LunchBreak. Rumson Red’s distributor and winemaker are also making individual charity contributions to the designated beneficiaries.
Rumson Red is described as an old world wine from a new world place, using Portuguese varietals grown in Sonoma, California. A blend of Touriga Nacional [65 percent], Tinto Cao [21 percent] and Tinta Roriz [14 percent], otherwise known as Tempranillo, the vintage can be paired with poultry, cheeses, and grilled or braised meats.
It also is available at select retail locations in Burlington, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset and Warren counties.
