“Scrooge” returns to Paramount this Saturday

All four productions of holiday staple feature a full orchestra

Beginning this weekend, The Premier Theatre Company will stage their annual live production run of  “Scrooge: The Musical” at the historic Paramount Theatre, located on the Asbury Park boardwalk.

A full orchestra will accompany all four weekend performances scheduled for Saturday Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.;  Sunday, Dec. 7  at 1 p.m.;  Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. with a final showing on Sunday Dec. 14 at 1 p.m.

scrooge and ghost - SFIStarring Albert Finney with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, “Scrooge: The Musical” is closely adapted from 1970 musical film “Scrooge” and follows the plot of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” in which the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a profound experience of redemption over the course of a Christmas Eve night after he is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.

Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $15 for students, $12 for children under 13 and can be purchased  on the Premier website or by calling 732.774.STAR  [7827]. Group discounts and subscriptions are also available.

The Premier Theatre Company will also collect toys and coats for the Asbury Park Police Holiday Toy & Coat Drive during the production run. Donors of new or gently worn coats or an unused or unwrapped toys will earn a 50% discount on their next ticket purchase. Premier is also sponsoring a food drive. Patrons who donate five or more non-perishable foods items will receive $5 off their next ticket purchase.
