Second Baptist Church’s Community Day Returns
Annual Event Will Feature Gospel Music From Area Churches
With the focus of bringing a larger neighborhood together, Second Baptist Church will hold its Annual Community Day & Gospel Extravaganza from noon to 4 pm Saturday in Springwood Avenue Park.
This year, the free family-friendly event will feature 8 to 10 gospel choirs from across the region, Deacon Dan Harris said.
“We have a lot of musical choices in Asbury Park,” Harris said. “We wanted to offer music that isn’t often seen on our local stages.”
A host of community groups, nonprofits, churches, and business groups and organizations will be in attendance, Harris said. There’s also dancers, poets, artists and other entertainers on the bill.
“This is a come one, come all cross-cultural unifying event,” Harris said. “Consider this our summer kick off.”
Springwood Avenue Park is located on Springwood Avenue between Union and Atkins avenues.
