Serial AP JMACK Graffitist and Biz/ATM Thief Caught
APPD Arrests two 51yr-old men, a third man remains at large
Asbury Park Police have arrested the infamous JMACK graffitist tagging venues throughout the city, department spokesman Michael Casey announced Thursday morning.
Vernon Williams, 51, also known as ‘Jodi Mack’ or ‘JMACK’ of Bradley Beach was arrested Wednesday following an investigation led by Det. Joseph Spallina.
Williams used spray paint or paint markers to tag the words “JMACK” which was sometimes accompanied by other words like “DUMP TRUMP” or “CCH,” officials said.
From the news release:
At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of an orange Liquitex brand paint marker, and found to be wearing black wool gloves with white skeleton hand designs on them. The white portions of the gloves appeared to be stained with different colors and shades of paint. He was arrested on charges unrelated to the graffiti.
Casey said multiple criminal mischief charges are forthcoming, and ask that any unreported taggings be brought to the attention of Det. Spallina via 732-775-2578 or joseph.spallina@cityofasburypark.com.
The Asbury Park Police Department also arrested Aaron Hearon of Neptune for the September 20 burglary at Langosta Lounge and Lightly Salted, located on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
Officials said an assortment of merchandise, worth an estimated $3,2000, was stolen from Lightly Salted and numerous bottles of alcohol and an ATM machine containing approximately $1,700 in cash was stolen from the neighboring Langosta Lounge. Both venues are owned and operated by restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach.
The ATM machine was later located, discarded in Neptune Township, officials said.
Hearon 51, was also charged in connection to the Sept 27 burglary of the Asbury Park Convention Hall.
Officials said, the glass from a perimeter door was shattered and an ATM machine containing approximately $1,500 in cash was removed. That machine also was later recovered in Neptune Township.
Hearon was also charged with the Sept 26 Theft of an ATM machine from the Passion Group, located at 600 Cookman Avenue.
That ATM machine contained approximately $1,600, and also was recovered in Neptune.
Police are still in search of Darren Covington 51, of Neptune, who has been charged in connection with the three burglaries. Multiple warrants have been issued for his arrest, officials said.
“It should be noted that these same men were also charged in multiple jurisdictions for various burglaries and thefts,” Casey noted.
Anyone having any information regarding the burglaries or the Covington’s whereabouts can contact Det. Spallina at 732-775-2578 or via email at joseph.spallina@cityofasburypark.com.
