City resident died en route to hospital Friday night; public's help sought with investigation
A joint murder investigation is underway pertaining to the 32-year-old city resident found lying on the ground in the 700 block of Third Avenue Friday night, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Acting Police Chief Anthony Salerno confirmed the homicide occurred Friday night.
Asbury Park Police who responded to a 911 call near 8:02 p.m., found Dexter Dunston in the area of 707 Third Ave with gunshot wounds, according to a news release by spokesman Charles Webster of the prosecutor’s office.
Dunston was being transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township by the Asbury Park Fire Department but died while en route at 8:17 p.m., according to the news release.
A joint investigation was immediately launched by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police Department.
No arrests have been made to date. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Monmouth County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of fugitives.
