Springsteen will be ‘special guest’ at opening party for Asbury Lanes
Two hundred free tickets reserved for Asbury residents for June 18 event
Bruce Springsteen is the announced ‘special guest’ for a party celebrating the reopening of the Asbury Lanes, according to a media advisory issued by waterfront redeveloper iStar, which owns the venue.
Headlining the June 18 event will be Portugal the Man. Rock photographer Danny Clinch’s Tangiers Blues Band will open. The event is in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County.
Two hundred free tickets are reserved for Asbury Park residents, who will be selected by lottery. One hundred lottery winners will be eligible for two tickets each. Complete information on how to submit entry into the lottery can be found at asburylanes.com, according to the media advisory.
Asbury Lanes has a capacity of 740. A spokesperson for iStar declined to give information about other invitees to this invitation-only event.
The event is being booked in partnership with The Bowery Presents, the advisory stated.
Asbury Lanes opened in 1962. It became a music venue over a decade ago. Istar just finished a multi-million dollar complete rehabilitation of the building, and bands have begun to perform at the venue.
Asbury Lanes is managed by the same team that runs iStar’s The Asbury hotel, which is located adjacent to Asbury Lanes. The two buildings are now connected by a passageway.
