St. Paddy’s Warmup at Wonder Bar features Celkilt
Famed European celtic rock band kicks off North American Tour in Asbury Park
CelKilt kicks off this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and their North American Tour with Friday night’s St. Paddy’s Warmup at the Wonder Bar.
Widely known throughout Europe, the Celtic Rock Band from Lyon, France, is making their first appearance in the state as part of their North American tour, according organizers.
The Tour includes performances in Washington DC, Virginia, Philadelphia and Maryland. They perform on March 18 at New York City’s DROM before heading north to Ottawa.
The five member group features front man and guitarist Titou MacFire, bagpiper and whistler Loïc MacWind, fiddler Ana MacFive, drummer and Bodhran Rems MacGround, and bassist Drik MacWater.
Their repertoire includes “Hey What’s Under Your Kilt,” “Everyday’s St. Patrick’s Day,” “Jig it Up,” “The Man in My Head,” and “On the Table.”
Well-known throughout Europe, the group began touring in 2011, playing in the U.S. for the first time two years later.
With more than 400 shows in just five years, the group has shared the stage with such notables as Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, The Levellers, Altan, and Tri Yann.
They have performed at the Montelago Fest in Italy, Lorient’s Interceltic festival, with stopovers in Belgium, Switzerland and Germany, and their television appearances include ‘The Great Battle’ – France’s version of You’ve Got Talent.
CelKilt’s motto is to roam the world with one goal in mind: To share the Power of the Kilt!!!
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door, with the doors opening at 7 p.m.
