The pickup of recyclables in town will resume next week after having been disrupted by last week’s Hurricane Sandy, according to an update on the city website. Garbage pickup is as usual this week.

Schools are closed today, Monday, Nov. 5, and tomorrow, according to city manager Terence Reidy. He said the district is shooting for a Wednesday reopening.

Halloween will be celebrated today in the city. Governor Chris Christie rescheduled the holiday for today due to damage from Hurricane Sandy, which hit on Monday, Oct. 29.

Traditional Halloween curfews are in place — 9:30 p.m. for children ages 13 and under, and 11 p.m. for children ages 17 and under, according to the website.

The Springwood Center is serving sandwiches, hot soup and coffee until 5 p.m., Reidy said. The Red Cross is there with blankets, clothing and food, and visitors can enjoy warmth and a jukebox.
