Summer Camp Fosters Art and Science Appreciation
Second Baptist Church Hosts Inspire LIFE Fine Art And Tech Day Camp
Inspire Life Fine Arts and Technology summer camp returns next week.
Designed to motivate and inspire kids ages five to 17, the week long program offers art, music theory basics, technology concepts, song composition and production, dance and vocal techniques.
Organizer Carla Vanzant said, for example, the tech program gives budding inventors and scientist a first hand knowledge of how everyday items work and allows them to incorporate the practices into their everyday lives.
“We use computer wires attached to mini switchboards to create reaction learning,” Vanzant has said.
Musical production includes the how to of making rhythms and beats and how to use computer and media applications to create compositions. Some will learn to play an instrument, while others will record and edit. A trained vocal coach and several musicians help oversee the campers.
The dance program includes learning the theories behind everything from classical to hip hop, and visual artists will guide students in creating their own works. The writing component allows campers to use their imagination by lending poetic license to historic accounts.
“The purpose of the camp is to inspire students through exposure and to prepare them for the upcoming school year,” Pastor Samaj Vanzant said.
The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug 21 to 25, with a Thursday field trip to the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. For more information, email inspirelife124@gmail.com.
