Sweet Dani B Opens Shop On Bangs Avenue In Asbury Park
Couture Cookie Creations, Workshops, and Grab & Go Offerings
Sweet Dani B, most known for its couture cookie creations and hands on workshops, has opened its doors on Bang Avenue.
The brainchild of Women’s March Asbury Park co founder Daniele Boglivi Fiori, the venture brings her love of baking together with a yen to nurture other’s creativity.
“If you are one of the people standing here you have inspired and/or supported me in some way, so thank you,” she told a standing room only crowd who gathered Sunday afternoon to help celebrate the opening of first her brick and mortar shop. “I know cookies can’t change the world but love can and that’s what I plan to do here in this space with everything single thing we do; thank you for joining me in spreading that love.”
Fiori is an Emmy Award-winning set and prop stylist who left the fashion industry to work with Martha Stewart. While she continues to freelance with the tried-and-true DIY tipster, Fiori’s days are spent balancing the north Jersey end of her couture cookie, invitation and design company with a growing Central and South Jersey clientele.
“When I started by business 10 years ago I never thought a brick and mortar like this would be possible,” she said. “I’ve had a few little studios but a place like this – I never thought I could afford it.”
Nestled between Patriae Studio and AP Greenery, Sweet Dani B is a hybrid cookie kitchen/foodie art work space. It’s cafe offers an array one of a kind recipes, like the popular Life Changing Chocolate Chip Cookie, Naked Sugar Cookie, Gingerbread Hearts, and the House Special – a heart-shaped sugar cookie. Fiori offers vegan options and accepts requests for gluten free takes on her original recipes.
Then there is this week’s special, named for husband Keith Fiori, is the KFPB: a double chocolate peanut butter chip cookie or Dallas’ Oatmeal Raisin: a family recipe passed to her by Woman’s March Asbury Park cofounder Dallas Hlatky.
The coffee, a locally roasted blend made particularly for the cafe, is served with one’s choice grass fed or almond milk. There’s hot chocolate on the menu and grab and go items like Fiori’s own granola blend featuring a mix of cashew, pecan, pistachio and/or almonds, and sweetened with coconut or date sugar and maple syrup.
November workshops feature an array of holiday themed options, including the Heritage Turkey tutorial – vegan and regular version sessions. And in December, look for everything from Gingerbread Snowflakes and Houses, to Cookies For Santa. Workshops are offered in kids only, adults only and kids and parent options.
Stay tuned for special events, including featured artists’ pop ups, book signings, a social justice club.
“I wasn’t sure the hybrid bakery/work space would work but this city is such an inspiration,” Fiori said. “There’s some kind of magic happening here- it’s in the people, it’s in the art, in the music, in the food- so much creativity. I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of it.”
Sweet Dani B, located at 717 Cookman Ave, is open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, excluding private events. For more information and workshop schedules, visit their website, Facebook and Instagram pages.
