Tandem Cycle Opening Second Location In Asbury Park
iStar Brings High Energy Spin Studio Focused on Mind, Body & Community Spirit To The Waterfront
UPDATE: Asbury Park waterfront redeveloper iStar has announced it will be matching Tandem Cycle’s contributions to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County during the newest AP business’ June 15 and June 16 pop-up classes at Asbury Lanes. Classes will run at 8 am, 9:30 am and 10:45 am on both days.
Tandem Cycle Asbury Park is set to open during the July 4th weekend, officials from iStar confirmed Monday evening.
The indoor cycling studio, with a flagship location in Manasquan, will open inside the former Outpost building at 200 Cookman Avenue, owned and operated by waterfront redeveloper iStar.
“Opening our second location in Asbury Park was the next natural step for Tandem Cycle,” said founder Maryclaire Pennotti [shown below with studio manager]. “We saw success with the ‘Cycle for Survival’ pop-up events we hosted at the newly reopened Asbury Lanes and were consistently overwhelmed by the energy that Asbury Park participants brought to the studio.”
Founded in March 2015, Tandem Cycle also had success last year with a yearlong pop-up in Long Branch. Their classes feature a high intensity cardiovascular, muscle toning, strength training workout with beat driven choreography.
The candlelit studio will provide a mind-body experience that will leave riders feeling empowered, organizers said. Instructors and playlists will be a unique and motivating against an ocean-inspired backdrop and a state-of-the-art sound system. The bikes are the brand new Schwinn AC Performance Plus Carbon Blue model.
Known for their riding with purpose business model, Tandem Cycle will continue its mission to give back to the local community by donating a portion of all proceeds to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, which has a local branch on Monroe Avenue. iStar Senior VP of Land Development Brian Cheripka sits on the local Boys and Girls Club board.
Additionally, Tandem Cycle has partnered with local vendors, such as Juice Basin and Jonesbar, to sell their products in-studio.
Leading up to the holiday weekend grand opening, Tandem Cycle will host a pop-up event on June 15 and 16 at Asbury Lanes, also owned and operated by iStar and located at 209 Fourth Avenue.
