Teens charged with drug and weapon’s possession
Deal police find air soft pistol & over 50 grams of marijuana
A Belford and two Middletown teens were arrested in the early morning hours Thursday along Roosevelt Avenue for drug and weapon’s possession, Deal Police Department spokesman Sgt. Brian Egan said.
Ryan Marchese, 19, of Middletown was charged with possession of a weapon, possession of over 50 grams of marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substances with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing. He was charged on a criminal complaint and released pending a court date. The two male juveniles were charged and released to a parent or guardian, Egan said.
The teens were apprehended near 2:02 a.m. after Patrolman Christopher Mirrione observed a suspicious vehicle while on patrol near the Roosevelt Avenue pump station, according to a news release:
Ptl Mirrione exited his police car to investigate when he observed a white male running away from him towards the beach. Sgt. Brian Egan, Ptl. Nick Vaccaro and Officer Jeffrey Kless then arrived on scene to assist in locating the subject. Sgt. Brian Egan was able to locate three males hiding in the jetty rocks near the Poplar Ave outflow pipe.
A subsequent investigation conducted by Sgt. Egan, Patrolmen Vaccaro, Mirrione, Kless, Allenhurst Patrolman Anthony Carafa and his K-9 partner Bia, revealed the occupants of the vehicle were in possession of an air soft pistol handgun [said to be easy to use and compact for storage], possession of controlled dangerous substances and drug paraphernalia.
