Ten arrested in Connection To Spate of Paintball Shootings
Kelso: Incidents are occurring mostly between 8 to 11 pm in southwest neighborhood
The Asbury Park Police Department has made several arrests in connection to a spate of paintball shootings, Deputy Chief David Kelso said.
“The City has seen an increase in paintball incidents between 8/23 and 8/30,” Kelso said. “During that one week period, the City of Asbury Park Police Department has made 10 arrests in regards to these paintball incidents, recovered four paintball guns, two paintball canisters and one mask.”
The Criminal Mischief / Assaults arrests and incidents include:
08/26/17 – 4 Paintball guns, a canister of paintballs and several C02 cartridges were recovered. Nyzheir Fitzpatrick, 19, of Neptune and four juveniles were arrested.
0825/17 – Derrick Ghee, 23 of Asbury Park was placed under arrest for hindering apprehension.
08/25/17 – A warrant arrest was made in regards to a paintball call.
08/24/17 – Three subjects arrested for trespassing in regards to a paintball call. Recovered paintball and a mask.
Kelso said numerous other paintball incidents are still being actively investigated.
The reported cases are occurring mostly between 8 pm and 11 pm, in the southwest section of the City, he said.
