The Asbury Park Planning Board unanimously approved the reconfiguration of The Asbury’s outdoor pool and deck area, thereby doing away with the outdoor beer garden.

The decision to expand the deck area surrounding the pool was based on feedback from the guests, said David Furgal of iStar Financial, the waterfront redeveloper that owns the Fifth Avenue located hotel and entertainment venue.

Projects officials outlined a new configuration [at right] that will move the existing beer truck to the northwest corner of the pool area, making it accessible to hotel guests only.

Concerns about the beer truck abutting a nearby residence was assuage when officials informed the board that iStar owns the neighboring home.

The food truck will be positioned to make it accessible to the public and hotel guests, with a small picnic table seating area.

“This allows for those who are under 21 to be able to access the food truck area,” Frugal said.

The pool area will be expanded to accommodate more seating and will feature new decking, a trellis, retention wall, privacy fencing and landscape.
