The Breakfast Club Returns
Chamber of Commerce Networking Event Features Safe Work Discussion
The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club networking event returns this month with a focus on creating safe work environments, Executive Director Sylvia Sylvia-Cioffi.
Being held 9 a.m. March 14 at Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten, located at 527 Lake Ave, the featured guest speakers include NJ Coalition Against Sexual Assault Executive Director Patricia Teffenhart [shown below] and Assistant Director Robert Baran, as well as Fox Rothschild Labor and Employment Attorney Mark Tabakman, who will speak on the legalities.
Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates Title VII of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, according to the American Association of University Women.
A bill introduced by Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg aims to ban employees from entering into non-disclosure agreements with their employers, thereby thwarting their right to defend themselves against the egregious workplace behavior.
Teffenhart was a member of Gov Phil Murphy’s transition team and worked with Weinberg’s office to fine-tune the bill’s language. She not only led Saturday’s Sexual Violence Panel during the inaugural Asbury Park Women’s Convention [above left], but was the featured speaker during a January concert at The Saint [above middle] held in support of the #MeToo movement by local musicians, and a Keynote Speaker at the January 2017 Asbury Park Women’s March [above right].
The morning event features a complimentary, light breakfast, a business card exchange with a prize drawing.
