The Center Hosts End of Summer Events
Music On Deal Lake Thursday Fundraiser Followed By Next Month's Annual AIDS Bike Ride
Two end of summer events are being held in support of The Center in Asbury Park, an HIV/AIDS support nonprofit.
At 7 p.m. Thursday Jillian Giacchi, Joe Moffitt and Alexandra Hancock will headline Music For The Center On Deal Lake.
Hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and cocktails will be served and the $40 tickets are available by clicking here or at the door.
The Center opened in 1992 as a means of support for people living with HIV/AIDS throughout Monmouth County. Today, the all volunteer organization provides housing programs, including a permanent home for 25 people at its Third Avenue facility.
Support programs include emergency placements for homeless clients; as well as rental and utility subsidies to prevent homelessness. Its nutritional programs include an emergency food pantry, meals to go and frozen home cooked fare, a daily lunch program and monthly Sunday dinners. The Center also provides transportation and conducts educational lectures and forums.
This year, their annual AIDS Bike Ride, being held 10 a.m. Sept. 23, has a $50,000 goal, organizers said.
Participants will enjoy beautiful coastal views on flat terrain with cyclists of all ages and riding abilities, organizers said. The 25 mile ride travels through Asbury Park, Loch Arbour, Allenhurst, Deal, Long Branch, Monmouth Beach and Oceanport. Support And Gear vehicles will accompany and assist the riders and crew en route. Riders being asked to raise a minimum amount of $100. For more information, click here.
The Center is also holding a separate fundraising drive in each riders name through a direct marketing campaign with the aid of the The Asbury Park and Belmar Chambers of Commerce.
The Center is located at 806 Third Ave. For more information, visit their website here.
