The Saint to Host A Second Feel the Bern Rally
Entertainment lineup to be announced for May 31 fundraising event
The iconic music venue The Saint is Feeling the Bern.
The Main Street entertainment hall announced Thursday afternoon that it will hold another Feel the Bern Concert and Rally, kicking off 4:30 p.m. May 31.
“Our first Rally & Concert on May 20 was such a huge success, we decided to do it again,” the Facebook post said. “We, the people, stand with Bernie Sanders!! Please join us on May 31st and show your support.”
No word yet on the artist and performer lineup but the rally will be free, with a suggested $10 donation to benefit the Vermont Senator’s presidential campaign.
This would be the third organized ‘Feel the Bern’ rally held in Asbury Park – the first held on March 5 along the Asbury Park boardwalk [shown at right].
While Sanders defeated his Democratic counterpart former Senator and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Indiana Primary, whether or not he will be able to obtain the needed 2,383 delegate votes to win the Democratic nomination is still up for debate.
Prior to the Indiana win, Clinton had 2,165 delegates to Sanders’ 1,357.
“I understand that Secretary Clinton thinks that this campaign is over,” Sanders said in a New York Times report. “I’ve got some bad news for her. Tonight we won a great victory in Indiana. Next week we are going to be in West Virginia. We think we have a real shot to win in that great state. And then we’re going to Kentucky, and we’re going to Oregon. And we think we have a pretty good chance to win there as well.”
And while Donald Trump has become the sole Republican candidate headed toward party nomination, Sanders has vowed he won’t back down has Cruz and Kasich did Wednesday.
“We feel great about tonight not only in winning here in Indiana and accumulating some more delegates but also gaining the momentum we need to take us to the finish line,” he said, adding the he realized he faced an “uphill battle.”
Residents interested in voting in New Jersey’s June 7 primary must register by May 17. For more information, visit www.state.nj.us/state/elections/.
