The Stone Pony reopens Memorial Day weekend with live performances
Iconic Asbury venue unveils 2021 music series with performances through September
The Stone Pony, an iconic Jersey shore music venue renowned for decades of live performances by music’s top rock legends, will celebrate its re- opening at the Asbury Park Boardwalk on Memorial Day weekend.
A brand-new outdoor seated beer garden affectionately named “The Stone Pony South Side” will welcome guests starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 28th.
Previewing its upcoming summer music series there, The Stone Pony will feature live music performances by “The Nerds” on Saturday, May 29, as well as local Asbury Park favorite “Waiting on Mongo” on Sunday, May 30.
Tickets for these preview beer garden events will be available beginning Friday, May 21, at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.com. The venue’s Summer Music Series, hosted in cooperation with Live Nation, will welcome a long list of popular bands to The Stone Pony Summer Stage beginning in July and running through the fall. For additional information on these or other upcoming performances, guests are encouraged to visit stoneponyonline.com.
“Throughout the COVID crisis, The Stone Pony has hosted numerous live streams and online events to help support local musicians as well as to raise funds for Asbury Park and the state of New Jersey. But nothing beats a live performance, and we are incredibly thrilled to be able to re-open with live music events this summer,” says Caroline O’Toole, General Manager for the venue.
“We have an incredible list of performers lined up for our Summer Music Series that begins in July, and we are now proudly opening The Stone Pony South Side, an outdoor extension of the traditional Stone Pony venue, with two live performances over the Memorial Day weekend to give our guests a fun-filled, COVID-safe way to enjoy these popular bands,” O’Toole said.
The new Stone Pony South Side is an outdoor extension of the Stone Pony venue that will allow guests to enjoy all the excitement and atmosphere of The Stone Pony in a COVID-safe outdoor setting. It will offer a variety of cold bottled beer, drafts from its own beer truck, a variety of favorite local cocktails, and an array of foods from Tony’s Tasty Trolley, a food truck serving a complete menu of traditional Boardwalk favorites.
The Nerds and Waiting on Mongo performances will be held here, in the beer garden, Memorial Day weekend. After Memorial Day weekend, The Stone Pony South Side will be open Thursday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Guests are asked to continue to adhere to all state and local COVID safety guidelines for outdoor events and dining.
