Airbnb-type rental regulations and various parking measures on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council will meet Wednesday in Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 1 Municipal Plaza.
There will be a 4:30 p.m. closed executive session. Public meetings begin at 6 p.m. with a workshop session followed by the 7 p.m. Regular City Council Meeting. Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting.
Items on the agenda include:
Executive Session discussions pertain to amendments to the Waterfront Redevelopment Plan. Discussions which fall under attorney-client privilege will also take place.
The Workshop Session will see a review of special event applications and the regular meeting agenda, and two presentations from City Planner Michele Alonso – one on a requested amendment to the Main Street Redevelopment Plan to allow for recording studios, and the other on possible lots for valet parking.
The Regular Session meeting includes the following:
• Public hearings on ordinances revamping the city’s short-term rental regulations. A vote on the matter may take place after the hearings.
• Introduction of an ordinance to suspend paid parking on Saturdays through the holiday season.
• Introduction of two ordinances that pertain to parking: One will establish the distance motor vehicles may be parked in relation to stop signs. The other updates the city’s parking guidelines to include an allowances for angled parking on a section of Summerfield west of Main Street, removal of time limits and prohibitions for parking on Emory street, additional handicapped parking on Park Avenue, an extension of metered parking on Deal Lake Drive between Webb Street and Park Avenue, and updated fees and regulations for residential and employee parking permits east of Main Street.
• Resolutions to approve RCA funds to improve several individual properties.
•Resolutions to authorize payment for change orders adherent to the city’s Road Program.
