Sunset foot bridge replacement and beach program fees on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a public workshop session at 6:30 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular session meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• Executive session discussions include contract negotiations with iStar regarding financial agreements related to Monroe Condominiums on Heck Street and new lighting plans for the boardwalk. Personnel matters include the Deputy Chief of Police employment contract, the City Planner and Public Works Superintendent positions.
• The Regular meeting includes the swearing in of Police Chaplin Lyydale Atkins.
• Resolution votes include the establishment of special event fees for beach programs; an extension of an Urban Enterprise Zone loan; and authorizing engineering firm T and M Associates’ Sunset Park Foot Bridge Replacement, sewer plant retaining wall, wastewater treatment roof repair and trash receptacle replacements in the waterfront development area.
• The City Council will introduce an ordinance to place a stop sign at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Memorial Drive to accommodate a detour of NJ Transit bus traffic during the Sunset Bridge Replacement project.
• The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and make comments prior to votes to amend the redevelopment plan to include application procedure and the establishment of escrow accounts; the establishment of a care, maintenance, security and upkeep of vacant and abandoned properties in foreclosure guideline; and the adoption of the City of Asbury Park codes.
