Tax abatement, turf at Springwood Park, & special events on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to hold a workshop meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in council chambers at City Hall.
A public participation session is scheduled to take place near the end of the meeting, after comments from city officials. Items on the agenda for the meeting include:
• Special Event applications include approval for the Asbury Fresh Winter pop-up at the soon to open House of Independents; the NJPACCI Jan. 16 workshop; April 2 National Brain Tumor Society Walk; April 16 RunAPalooza organized by the Jersey Shore Running Club and Special Olympics New Jersey; April 24 March for Babies; May 7 Sexual Assault Awareness Month 5k run; and 17 wedding applications along the city’s beaches in 2016.
• City Planner Michele Alonso will give a presentation on potential amendments to the City Land Development regulations.
• Deputy Chief Anthony Salerno will give a presentation on a proposed 15-minute parking space near Asbury Park Roastery building on Second Avenue.
• Attorney James Ross will give a presentation on a tax abatement request for the approved mixed-use project at the former Upstage Club at 700 Cookman Ave.
• The City Council will discuss the use artificial turf at Spring Avenue Park, currently under development. A committee is currently being formed to rename the park.
