Redevelopment amendments, CDBG, & Madison Marquette's 3rd Ave Pavilion completion on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall.
A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• Executive session discussions re amendments to the city’s waterfront redevelopment plan, its pending financial/redeveloper’s agreement with iStar Financial for the 1101 Ocean project, and changes to the Kennedy Park redeveloper’s agreement.
• The City Council will address potential tax foreclosure litigation and its pending Westside Community Center v City of Asbury Park lawsuit.
• The Regular Meeting highlights include votes re free daytime parking Saturdays during the Nov 26 to Dec 24 holiday season, adoption of the 2017 Community Development Block Grant awards, and a resolution recognizing the completion of Madison Marquette’s Third Avenue Pavilion refurbishment requirements.
• A new ordinance will address guidelines for street, sidewalk and signage within city rights of way.
• The city council will also vote on the introduction of changes to the Central Business District Redevelopment Plan as it pertains to parking, expanding ground floor business uses and redefining its implementation.
• The public will have a chance to ask questions and make comments prior to the final votes on establishing catch basin retrofitting on private property, the appropriation of a $1.5 million bond ordinance to address various communication system improvements, and a staging and easement for the proposed Wesley Lake storm water outfall repair project.
