Deal Lake Recreation, Zone Amendments and Separation Agreement Funding On Agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 1 Municipal Plaza.
There will be a 4 p.m. closed executive session prior to the 6 p.m. public workshop session and 7 p.m. Regular City Council Meeting.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting.
Items on the agenda include:
• Executive session discussions for contract negotiations pertaining to a redeveloper’s agreement for Overlook Park [aka Kennedy Park], with the Michaels Group, and for parking agreements with waterfront redeveloper iStar.
• There will also be discussions concerning the NJ Intergovernmental Insurance Fund open claims report and attorney-client privilege.
The workshop meeting will include a presentation on special event applications for a VNA Community Day, the Cazzeek Brother’s Man Up Competition, the Health Alliance’s Choose Your Cover, and a Blue Bishop Outreach Day. There will also be a review of the regular session agenda items.
The regular session City Council votes will include:
• Budgetary matters, including the separation of the employment agreement for former Acting Police Chief Anthony Salerno. The separation agreement includes $70,716.32 for 1,077½ sick hours, $33,077.52 for 504 vacation hours, and $22,018.86 for 335½ comp hours, equating to a total of $125,812.70.
• There will also be a vote for an extension of the current parking meters warranty, a lease agreement for the temporary restroom trailers located north of the Sunset Pavilion at Sixth Avenue on the boardwalk, and the implementation of a competitive contracting process in order to procure bids for a stand up paddle board, kayak and other recreation on Deal Lake.
• Votes will be cast for the appointments of the following:
Troppoli Law Firm as the city’s public defender at a rate of $500 per court session and $100 per hour for Superior Court
James N Butler Jr. as City Prosecutor and code enforcement prosecutor in the amounts of $650 per court session and 150 per hour for both posts.
Long, Marmero and Associates as alternate City Prosecutor at a rate of $150 per hour.
New ordinance introductions include:
• A $370,000 special emergency appropriation to fund the contractually required severance for the retirement of employees
• An amendment to the June 2009 storm and sanitary sewer bond ordinance for the Springwood Avenue and Central Business District redevelopment areas
• An easement to allow for parking at a 16 unit Bond Street residential property
A public hearing will be held prior to the final vote for the prohibition of commercial drive-thrus in the B2 Zone and allowing for a secured sun protection structure at restaurants with limited seating in the LI Zone.
