Sackman Enterprises Projects, Parking Changes, Road And Sewer Work On Agenda

The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall, located at 1 Municipal Plaza.

A closed executive session will start at 4 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. public workshop session and the 7 p.m. regular council meeting.

Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:

• Executive discussions with regard to property acquisitions, contract negotiation and possible litigation.

• In workshop there will be a review of the special events applications, followed by a presentation from Sackman Enterprises for the 512 Summerfield Avenue and 700 Bangs Avenue projects.

• During the regular meeting, votes will be made on budgetary matters, special event applications, the renewal of liquor licenses with special conditions outlined, establishment of a Mayor’s Wellness Committee, the purchase of a police beach squad ATV, and authorizing the creation of municipal public access plan.

New ordinances on the books for a first reading include:

• A restriction on the sale of puppy and kitten mill animals aimed at reducing inhumane breeding conditions.

• Changes to parking regulations that include angled parking along Atlantic Avenue and 15 minute time limit parking along Fourth, Fifth and Summerfield Avenues.

• Vacating the city’s holding of a  fifteen feet wide alleyway located east of Dunlewy Street, thereby turning ownership over to the two adjacent property owners.

• A $1.5 million bond for Parking Utility improvements that includes the purchase and installation of parking meters, surveying, construction planning, permits, engineering and design work.

• A $500,000 bond for sewer improvements; and a $1.65 million bond for road improvements.

The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and offer comments prior to the final votes for the following:

• Changes to a 2009 $15.8 million sanitary and storm sewer improvement bond that specifies coverage for all engineering or design work, construction planning, plan preparation and specifications, permits, bid documents, inspection and contract administration.

• And, creating a one way traffic pattern along Heck Street; between Cookman and Lake avenues.
