The Sun’s City Council Preview
Green Team, Vehicle Purchase, 60-day Online Parking Meter Management Trial, Wesley Lake Outfall Repair, & Complete Streets On Agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 1 Municipal Plaza.
There will be a 5:30 p.m. closed executive session. The public meetings begin at 6 p.m. with a workshop session and is followed by the 7 p.m. Regular City Council Meeting. Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting.
Items on the agenda include:
Executive session discussions regarding contract negotiations associated with the proposed use of a public right of way encroachment for a residential project located at 1003 Bond St.
The workshop session includes special event applications and a review of regular session agenda items prior to matters raised by the governing body.
The regular meeting includes votes on budgetary matters, the $30,395 purchase of a 2017 Ford Transit T-350 from Beyer Ford for the social services department and of Fire Department air paks and cylinders for $49,998.
The City Council will also vote on the creation of Green Team panel mandated by Sustainable New Jersey certification guidelines. The new group will meet on as an need basis, with its members to include City Manager Michael Capabianco or his designee, Director of Planning and Redevelopment Michele Alonso or her designee, the Environmental Shade Tree Commission Chair or designee, Asbury Park Business Committee Chair or designee Councilwoman Eileen Chapman or designee, Derek Minno Bloom, Joyce Grant, Roy Helfrick, and Zoning Board member Russell Lewis.
There will be a vote to administer a free 60-day trial online permit management system in conjunction with the IPS Group, the city’s new meter purveyor, and awarding Burke Contracting a $14,100 agreement to repair the Wesley Lake Outfall. The repair would be funded through a $37,500 NJDEP grant, with a 25 percent minimum contribution by the city, should the governing body vote to accept the funding.
Changes to the Complete Streets Policy, awarding run off third party claims to PMA Management Corp of Mount Laurel, renewal of The Asbury’s liquor license are on the agenda.
A new ordinance to award the public right of way use for the 1003 Bond Street residential parking in on the Agenda. The use of 2,6000 square feet would be made in lieu of $25,800.
