The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• Several resolutions, including one to allow the county mosquito commission to work in the city, to appoint a new member to the APTV committee, to authorize the city to issue tax anticipation notes not to exceed $7 million dollars, to reintroduce the 2014 budget, to authorize a “use and license agreement” with the Skate and Surf Festival organizers, and one that would establish additional fees in relation to special events in the city.
• A discussion of special event applications, including the Third Annual Asbury Park Restaurant Tour, the NJ AIDS Walk, the Asbury Park Global Yoga/Mala Festival and a private wedding.
• An application to allow the Premiere Theatre Company to conduct a raffle and an application to extend Johnny Mac’s House of Spirits’ liquor license into the parking lot for an event on April 27.
• A review of correspondence received by the city from Tom Pivinski, chairman of the city’s Environment and Shade Tree commission; a planning board application from Tony Perillo, and letters from city resident Carrie Jeannot in regard to four city properties.
• Public hearings will take place for several ordinances, including one to create a handicapped parking space in front of a Fifth Avenue residence, one that increases the fees for Emergency Medical Services, one to create a seasonal Certificate of Occupancy for summer rental properties, one to establish a budgetary CAP Bank, and an ordinance to amend the licensing regulations of the city’s taxicab agreement. After the public hearings, the council may take action on any of the items.
In executive session, the council will discuss contract negotiations and potential litigation for the installation of a state-mandated sprinkler system in Convention Hall and control of three parking lots along the waterfront; an issue with payments in lieu of taxes on the Steinbach’s building; contract negotiations for the Skate and Surf Festival; and matters of litigation that include one with First Avenue Realty and the other with several workers compensation claims.
The agendas and supplemental materials for tomorrow’s meetings are subject to change and can be viewed on the city’s website. Agendas are found by meeting date on the left side of the page, under the “Residents” tab.
