Vote on Salvation Army boutique hotel project on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• A vote on a resolution to conceptually approval a re-adaptive use project to turn the old Salvation Army building on Fifth Avenue into a boutique hotel.
• Discussion of a proposed road closure at Summerfield Avenue and Memorial Drive.
• A resolution to allow Asbury Partners to install bumpouts at curbs in certain intersections within the waterfront.
• First reading of an ordinance to amend the Springwood Avenue Redevelopment Plan.
• A discussion of a fence encroaching on the city right of way at 602 Fourth Avenue.
• A discussion of two special event applications, one for the fire department to conduct a fundraiser and the other for a water baptism.
• A presentation of the 2013 city audit by City Auditor Dave Kaplan.
• Presentations by City Planning and Redevelopment Director Don Sammet on the Springwood Avenue redevelopment project.
• First reading of an ordinance that relinquishes the city’s right of way from three “paper” streets (which only exist on city tax maps) in the Springwood Avenue Redevelopment Area.
• A resolution to accept the donation of an ambulance from Tinton Falls Borough EMS.
• A resolution to authorize preparation and delivery of estimated 3rd quarter tax bills.
• Resolutions to amend the the 2014 municipal budget and 2014 temporary budget appropriations.
In executive session, the council will discuss a personnel matter involving the city clerk and several matters of litigation.
