Presentations to change city C.O. policy, expand Lakehouse on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to hold a workshop meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in council chambers at City Hall.
A public participation session is scheduled to take place near the end of the meeting, prior to comments from city officials. Items on the agenda for the meeting include:
• A discussion of quotes for head hunting services to conduct a search for a new city manager.
• A presentation by Planning and Redevelopment Director Donald Sammet on amendments to the city’s land development regulations that would allow hospitality and entertainment-related establishments to install as many coin-operated amusements as they would like. Current land development regulations permit no more than three per business.
• A presentation by Planning and Redevelopment Director Donald Sammet on an amendment to the Central Business District Redevelopment Plan that would allow Lakehouse Music Academy to expand their current permitted use to an adjacent building to the west.
• Presentations by Director of Property Improvement Robert McKeon on accepting a proposal for repayment of a portion of an RCA loan for 1012 Bangs Ave., and for a proposal to change the city’s certificate of occupancy [CO] requirements to an annual or biennial certificate. Currently, landlords are only required to obtain CO’s when tenants change.
• Presentations by Fire Chief Kevin Keddy on an inter-local agreement to provide 193 man hours of training services to the Freehold Fire Department, District 1, in exchange for equipment valued at $12,500, and another presentation to accept a 1977 Hahn Fire engine as surplus fire equipment from the Manasquan Volunteer Engine Co. at no cost.
• A discussion of board, committees and commissions.
• A discussion to add metered parking in the municipal lot and Bangs Avenue parking garage.
• A statement by council in opposition to the Liquified Natral Gas [LNG] port project proposed to be situated 13 miles off the coast of Sandy Hook.
