City manager's position, status of south boardwalk repairs on agenda

The city council is scheduled to meet Wesdesday night in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.

Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:

• A discussion on the appointment of a new city manager.

• Presentations by Police Chief Mark Kinmon on a school parking ordinance and 13 class II special police officers.

• Presentation by City Engineer Joe Cunha on the status of the south boardwalk repairs, a possible contract award for boardwalk repairs, a request for authorization to seek bids for upgrades to the library’s HVAC system, and a change to a project at the Community Affairs center.

• Discussion on the renewal of a 5-year tax exemption program.

• Introduction of an ordinance to set fire department salaries.

• Introduction of an ordinance re-appropriating bond funds.

• Decisions on awarding bids for the collection of delinquent municipal court fines and an RCA project at 1218 Summerfield Ave.

• A presentation by Erick Aguiar, the city tax assessor, on the 5-year internal tax inspection plan.

In executive session, the council will discuss several personnel issues including the city manager’s position, appointments to the zoning board and an emergency management coordinator. They will also discuss contract negotiations and potential litigation for a state mandated sprinkler system to be installed in Convention Hall, renewal of the city’s agreement with the New Jersey Intergovernmental Insurance Fund, a redevelopment agreements with Interfaith Neighbors, and police Chief Mark Kinmon’s employment contract. They will also discuss three matters of litigation for workers’ compensation and a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
