The Sun’s city council preview – July 10, 2013
Amendments to the temporary budget on agenda
The city council is scheduled to meet tonight in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting include:
• An application to grant a catering permit to La Sierra Restaurant.
• An application for the Empress Motel to be granted a new liquor license under the 100 room requirement.
• A resolution to appoint class II and III members of the planning board.
• A resolution to adopt a meeting schedule for the remainder of the year.
• A resolution to amend the temporary budget.
• Special event applications for new and returning events, including “Care of the Square,” The Salvation Army’s “Christmas in July” and “National Night Out.”
• A presentation on concessions for private surf lessons on the beach and paddle board rentals on Deal Lake.
• A presentation on Main Street road improvements.
In executive session, the council will discuss collective bargaining agreements with the fire union (IAFF), the city manager’s position and one case of litigation: Raymona Baker vs. the City of Asbury Park.
