On agenda: Resolutions to extend third quarter tax payments
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• A resolution for the city to apply for the 2014 Statewide Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown grant.
• A resolution to authorize the city tax collector to extend the third quarter due date for tax payments.
• A resolution to apply for the 2014 State Body Armour Replacement Fund program grant.
• A resolution that acknowledges approval of the city’s 2014 Annual Action Plan by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
• Discussion of several special events, including National Night Out, a community back-to-school event, the NJ Ride against AIDS, and others.
• Acknowledgement of correspondence received by the city clerk’s office in regard to two bid awards for RCA funds, one at 1202 Sunset Ave. and the other at 602 Fourth Ave.
In executive session, the council will discuss personnel matters involving several worker’s compensation claims, appointment of a police chief, a collective bargaining agreement with the Asbury Park police, and contract negotiations for the sale of the Park Avenue Firehouse.
