On agenda: Waterfront parking resolution, Springwood Park design
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• A resolution to amend the Waterfront Parking Agreement between the city and master developer Asbury Partners, LLC. The agreement dictates the control and use of 600 parking spaces spread over three waterfront lots.
• A resolution to allow the city to apply for state Green Acres funds for the preservation of a portion of the North End beach.
• Award of a contract to Suburban Consulting Engineers, for design, bidding and construction services for the Springwood Park Project.
• A resolution for the city to apply to participate a program through the US Department of Justice that would enable the city to be reimbursed for the purchase of bulletproof vests.
• A resolution to amend temporary budget appropriations for the 2014 fiscal year.
• A resolution to establish additional fees for special events that take place in the city.
• Appointments to the city planning board.
• A vote to extend the premise of the Stone Pony for outside concerts on the Summer Stage.
• A discussion and vote on several special event applications, including one for a summer camp, one for a wellness event, one for the Asbury Park High School graduation ceremony, one for the Asbury Park Technical Academy of Dance’s 16th annual recital, and one for a wedding.
• A public hearing on an ordinance that grants an easement for Taka business owners to complete renovations to their new location on Cookman Avenue using a portion of the city’s right-of-way.
In executive session, the council will discuss contract negotiations with the Michael’s Group, one of the two developers selected to execute the Springwood Avenue Redevelopment Plan, and a matter of litigation between the city zoning board and owners of Sunset Mansion.
