The Sun’s city council preview — March 13, 2013
Bid decision for boardwalk repairs on agenda
Asbury Park’s city council is scheduled to meet in council chambers tonight, with a closed executive session starting at 5 p.m.; a workshop session at 6 p.m.; and a regular meeting at 7 p.m.
The workshop and executive agendas were not available online at the time of this posting.
Items on the regular meeting agenda include:
• A possible decision on a bid for a revaluation firm, if the city is ready. The city decided to accept bids once more because the original bidder increased its price.
• A bid on boardwalk repairs. The council has not yet awarded this bid due to concerns over litigation when a contractor accused the winning bidder of not adhering to guidelines.
• Appointments to the Asbury Park Housing Authority.
• A vote on participation in the Department of Defense’s 1033 program, which would enable the city’s police department to receive and use excess military materials including, but not limited to, body armor, night vision equipment, first aid supplies, weapons, surveillance equipment and clothing.
• A vote on a temporary municipal budget.
