On agenda: Vote to award a contract for a parking consultant
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• A vote to award a $43,560 contract to Desman Associates for the completion of a comprehensive parking management plan for the city.
• Several special event applications, including an art on the boardwalk event organized by the city’s historical society, a baptism ceremony, film screenings on the beach, fireworks, the third annual Day of Demos art demonstration, and an “art block” block party in the 700 block of Cookman Avenue.
• A vote to enter into an agreement with Neptune Township and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office to apply for Safe Neighborhoods grant funds.
• A vote to apply for grant funds with the 2014 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Funding.
• Votes to award contracts for administrative services and vehicle repairs.
• A vote to enter into a right-of-entry agreement with Monmouth County so that construction work can be done to improve property at 1000 Springwood Ave.
• During the regular meeting, public hearings will take place on the re-introduction of the 2014 Municipal Budget, an ordinance to exceed the Municipal Budget Appropriation Limit, and to establish a CAP bank.
In executive session, the council will discuss the tax assessor’s position, an issue with the placement of a private dumpster in the city, an agreement with Madison Marquette regarding a state mandated sprinkler system and waterfront parking lots; three matters of litigation, which include a matter involving the city zoning board and two matters of workers’ compensation.
