On agenda: agreement that allows city to obtain funds for b'walk lights
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• Authorization of an agreement that designates the city as a sub-recipient of grant funds from the state Economic Development Authority to install new lighting along the boardwalk.
• A vote on a resolution to renew a contract with the State of New Jersey for use of the Bangs Avenue garage.
• A discussion of several special event applications, including the annual Columbus Day re-enactment and the Asbury Park High School’s homecoming parade.
• A presentation by Deputy Chief Anthony Salerno of the Asbury Park Police Department on a handicapped parking request for 1201 Springwood Ave.
• A vote on a resolution to dedicate funds by rider to Asbury Park’s Cable Television Advisory Committee [APTV].
• Several public hearings will take place prior to the city council’s final vote on ordinances. The ordinances address abandoned properties in the city, a restricted parking space at 1104 First Ave., merchandise displays for outdoor [sidewalk] cafés, fees and procedures for the mayor’s reimbursement of expenses associated with marriages and civil union ceremonies, and an airspace easement adjacent to a property located at 550 Cookman Ave.
In executive session, the council will discuss contract negotiations for the sale of the Park Avenue Firehouse, collecting bargaining agreements and several matters of litigation.
